I don't know about books... but this has been addressed here with many great ideas... you might do a search
one that comes to mind that i've used several times... is wall outlets that are close to end/coffee table height... just above seems to work well... lights in a hall that flood the floor with low level light... these ideas are well received everywhere

Check out the Natl Assoc of Home Builders, they offer a CAPS course (certified aging in place specialist). I took this course for certification and the books are great. They show layouts using existing codes and a book of suppliers from cabinets to toilets.
Check the local chapter for a course schedule.
Taunton's Building for a Lifetime is excellent.

Funny thing is, I searched all over the Taunton web site and couldn't find it. I guess you'll have to get it from another supplier. It's an excellent book, though.
