I have a home built in 1962. It was a custom job and it has double pane, Anderson windows throughout. The wood is still in good shape and they are still fairly tight, but several of them have broken strings. Is there a way to repair? A builder friend told me there are ‘repair kits’ but I can not get an Anderson dealer to give me a call back. They don’t have weights like really old windows. Any ideas?

Piffin is right on, deal with Andersen direct. The windows you have are called Primed Narroline and what you need are called balancers. There are two in each window, and they should always be replaced in pairs. With windows that age you will probably break the lower right jamb liner while removing, so I would figure on replacing those as well. You will need the visible glass size, before calling, to determine the window size. The glazing (glass type) of that year use the same balancer, it's probably 3/8" welded glass.
