I have a customer who had the bottom 3 courses of aluminum siding come loose from the wind. Has anybody ever replaced the bottom three courses without ripping all the way down the wall?
I’ve done it with vinyl siding but aluminum doesn’t pop off and back on like vinyl does. Any info will be helpful.

Jem,
If it's just relocking the bottoms you can in fact rezip Aluminum kinnda like Vinyl but it takes a little care.
If you can geta spot started you and helper can CAREFULLY push up on the lower course and down on the upper course and with a little pressure with your palm push the lock together.
I've had to do it on occasion on my house. It can be tedious to do but once you get it started it isn't so bad.
You can even use a vinyl siding tool on Aluminum but be very careful becasue just a little too much pull and it kinks or bends.
Figure aboutt riple how long it would take with Vinyl.
The only one that needs to be reconnected is the one where the new course and the old meet. He had toorder 2 square even though he only need about 60sf. I'll give it a try. Thanks

I was told that you cut the top edge off the top piece, jamb it under the course above, and secure with silicone and a few carefully placed casing nails.
happy?
