Replace or cover lightly water damaged OSB Subfloor.
I have a lakehouse that had extensive water damage from a pipe breaking last winter and am finally kicking off a full renovation with 2 small (500 sq. ft. total additions. The original 3/4″ OSB subfloor has some mild water damage but has been cleaned and treated and is secure and stable. I am planning on installing hardwood floors in 3/4 of the area and am debating — do I tear up and replace the existing OSB with 1″ plywood to match additions or should I put 3/4 plywood in additions and then add another layer of 1/2 or 3/4 plywood throughout?
Original house is about 15 years old — built 1994. Thanks for your input.

Why were you planning on using 1" in the additions?
is it because of the centers on the joists?
Simplify. Either bring up the subfloor to match or if kosher, thin down the addition subfloor thickness.
3/4 sub is fine for 3/4 hardwood.
What goes in the other 1/4 of the floor? You might be considering matching or coming close to the final finish of both areas.
Sorry --- wasnt clear
Sorry -- wasnt clear on that -- my preference if doing from scratch would be 1" plywood rather than OSB -- so the decision is between do I match 3/4" in new and then overlay all with 3/4" or 1/2" plywood or should I remove the existing OSB and replace all with my preferred 1" Plywood.
Thanks for the input!!
Here's some more input.
In the addition, investigate now b/4 you put anything down-the super OSB-Advantech. That stuff is decidedly better than normal OSB. You need to see a demo if possible.
Best of luck.
