I need to replace a leaking 4in cast iron drain/waste tee. I have never done this before.
To the right of the leaking tee is an identical tee, this one intact. The intact tee is connected to the outgoing drain/waste line with a hubless connector. My plan is to build a 2×4 crib under the two tees, remove the hubless connector, and then remove the two tees with a 3lb maul. I will replace the two cast tees with plastic tees.
For anyone who has done this kind of work, does this sound like a sound plan? What kinds of problems am I likely to encounter? Any advice for making an ugly task any easier? I figure it should take me about 8 hours. Am I looking at the time through rose-colored glasses?
Thank you all.

breaking the connection with a sledge hammer may loosen the joints that are tight that you wish to keep.
Go find a cast iron pipe cutter. Up here it rents for about $35 a day.
Cuts clean lines on cast iron that will allow you to use a rubber connector to splice in your repair.
