Replacing concrete block in wall
The inspector had to core some big samples out of a concrete block wall and now I have these cannonball holes in it.
I need to chip those out and replace them with faces. Can any mason tell me the finer points of how to get the old ones out and the new ones in? The wall is grouted solid with rebar.
Thanks

What you'll need to do is score the mortar joint with a diamond bladed tool (grinder/saw) and make several scores as deep as the faceshell is thick (1 1/4"). Chip out the waste with a chisel in a rotohammer until you can mortar in, flush, a faceshell you've cut from another block.
Why was this wall core drilled? Did someone forget to make prisms or not call for inspection along the way?

This was done after the fact as specified by the structural engineer in the plans, who called for crush tests of the cores. What a pain- thanks for the tip.
just fill the core holes with conrete
