What is the best method of replacing floor joists? About 3/4 of them need replaced. It is a 2′ crawl space and really needs raised another block or two.

I would remove the subflooring all of it! I dont like crawling around in dark places with spiders and snakes! sounds like a nasty job you have my condolence
I agree, remove the subflooring and go from the top. Don't like spiders and snkes at all. Besides which if that many need replaing the subfloor probably does too!
As a general rule, I agree with these guys. But it might depend on the oerall situation and you give little background info about type of construction, reason theyneed replacement, whether rim/sill needs to go too, type of sill and foundation, condition of house, etc.
Excellence is its own reward!
It is a basic ranch style house with 2X4 framing and only 2X8 joists. I think I will go with the over the top method. Thanks you all. Yeah, and the problem was caused from excessive moisture in the crawlspace. I think the downspouts put it right in there. Do termites prefer moist or dry wood?
sounds like someone stuck the clothes dryer exaust pipe into the crall space, crall space not vented ,install vapor barrior and curtain drains for down spouts
1. Remove the sheathing.
2. Replace only a few joists at a time.
3. Resheath.
Piffin maks good points. If the joists need replacement, so may be other parts of the framing.
