My parents recently had all their windows replaced. The new ones are made by Republic in Chicago. They insulate very well, and there are no complaints about the sash (slider) type. However the swing-out casement style units are not doing so well. The pin fell out of the control arm on one. Another one lost the pin out of an upper pivot and the window fell away from the house, tore off its lower pivot and shattered on the ground.
Somebody could have been seriously injured.
Bad design? Bad day at the factory? Employee sabotage?
Has anyone else had bad experience with Republic??
