Hello everyone!
New member with my first posting here (many more to follow I’m sure).
I am about to build my first house as an owner/builder. My permit is almost out of plancheck with the city of Santa Cruz, CA where I have been a cabinet builder for the past 25 years. I am required to install residential fire sprinklers and have not found much in the way of design/install information. Does anyone have any suggestions/sources for a handbook for residential fire sprinklers? Thanks for any advice.

Do a generic search "residential fire splinkler systems" and you'll find a slug of web sites. The most helpful ones will be the fire system associations, although the commercial sites will give you system product info.

also try NFPA (Nat'l Fire Protection Association).
you can use plastic pipe rated for it (Blazemaster is one brand).
You'll likely want to get an engineer's stamp on it to do the hydrolic calc's (variables are municipal water presure, legnth of runs, # fittings, size of pipe, # of heads, etc...).
