Hey everybody…..Im mostly just a lurker here but I felt I had to speak up and pay tribute to one of the greats
that we lost yesterday. Buck Owens gave me alot of the music of not only my youth but alot of words to live
by. Truely a once in a lifetime talent and one helluva showman……Rest Easy, Buck…..
(and remember..all you gotta do is act naturally….)

Never a big fan, but living in his hometown of Bakersfield, he was very much a presence here. He built a big restaurant/nightclub, the Crystal Palace, and some of the guys I knew worked on the project. They said he had them tearing out and rebuilding a lot of stuff - seems he couldn't envision it on paper, but once he saw it he knew if he liked it or not. Said he was really nice to work for, and no argument about paying for the re-do's. One of my clients did his gardening, and said basically the same thing. Nice to work for, no problem getting paid. A rarity in this town!
He did a lot to inject some life into the local economy, which struggled for years. In addition to the club, he also owned several radio stations, and a TV station. I guess he had been battling throat cancer for years. We've even got a street named after him!

I was surprised to hear that. One of my oldest memories was sitting with the old man watchin' Hee Haw.
