Got a job where HO wants to add exterior 5/4 x 4 window trim w/ wood drip cap around all her front windows. Siding is cedar bevel (8″). I’ve done it before on a window or two and just did things carefully with a circ saw freehand. On this job though I’ve got a dozen to do and want to tap your thoughts on stremlining the process with a guide or template. any ideas?

In older homes like these, the main remodeling goal is often a more welcoming, more social, and more functional kitchen.

How about a shooting board (edge guide) for the circ saw, with marks to indicate the length of the trim pieces? The shooting board could have a blade to board edge distance of 3 1/2", so you could just check the reveal, screw the board to the siding, cut it, and move the board.
Just a thought. I've always snapped lines and gone with a saw freehand for the odd window or two.

good thought zak, I do that for other applications. I would have to fasten it to the siding and not the window (flatter and less depth). maybe I could just pin it with a brad nailer. Thanks,Jason
