I am currently renovating an old house (140 yrs. old) and am interested in retrofitting the existing 2 over 2 double hung windows to a modern jamb system. The windows currently have sash weights which I would like to eliminate in an effort to better insulate the openings. The sashes are made of 1 1/2 inch thick wood and I have been unable to find anyone that manufactures jamb conversion kits in any sizes other than 1 3/8 inches thick. Has anyone come across a source for these kits for thicker jambs? (or does anyone have another way to solve this problem?)
