Hi, I have 2000!! +- plugs in my Ipe deck to sand flush, then from what I understand, I need to lightly sand ALL 440 SF of deck to some degree so it will finish evenly. Looked at renting floor sander, concern is the raised plugs willl chew up the sander pad, or worse, the force will snap/ loosen the plugs I glued in. SO I am thinking right angle grinder on 1 pass to bring them close, then buy one of these (My HD has some of the German made ones left, not the Chinese version), then sand the rest.
In then end, I will own a new toy, I mean tooL
Any better ideas?
Thanks, Dave

I would use a router to get the plugs level and then a plane or scraper to get them down all the way. I suggest the plane or scraper because if you sand the plugs (endgrain) the surrounding wood will sand away faster leaving a high spot. And besides, a router, plane, and scraper are much nicer toys than an angle grinder.
