Just a heads up, I was using a Ridgid belt sander I purchased a few months ago today and quickly noticed I was being shocked.
Apperantly there is a short, I noticed a tingle on the finger I had on the trigger and like an idiot I decided to hold it up near eye level and could see the arc between my finger and the trigger assembly.
I brought it back to HD and they said that I was the 3rd person to bring one back recently with the same problem.
Of course the manager was an idiot and wouldn’t take it back b/c I didn’t have the receipt with me nor could they find it in the computer, told me to call Ridgid.
So I’ll be making that call tomorrow along with a call to the HD customer service line to complain.
Anyway, long story short if you have a Ridgid belt sander take a look and make sure you are not having the same problem.
Be I knew I should have bought the PC.

Just wondering whether belt sanders have the propensity to generate static electricity, like a Van DeGraff generator, under the right conditions?
They do if you are belt sanding SLC w/ dust collection. Alot of static, almost painful.
