The mail lady dropped off a flyer for one of those Cummins Tools truck sales, the ones where everything looks like such a great deal until you actually use them. Well, they seem to be carrying more and more “factory recertified and warrantied” stuff now, and one thing caught my eye – they have the Ridgid portable table saw (the one that placed a close second to the Bosch in the last review in FHB) for $280, “factory recertified with a 1 year warranty.” I’ve been toying with the idea of a new saw, and I’ve liked this one when I’ve farted around with it at the store. Think it’s worth the risk to get one from the el cheapo dealer?

whose warranty, cummings or rigids
home depot sells rigid , can you take it back to them ????
who do yo take it back to
we do buy little things from cummings. matter fo fact they are here in 4 days
and thats all part of the scam/game
as every year they arrive later and later in the season. they used to show up in April, then May, now first of june
so think about it, if they arrrive in town one day after the 1 year they wer here last time, do they have to warranty the item you bring back with its 1 year warranty
after all , its now a year and a day
but if you know what your looking at, dont care about warranty, you can get great deals
also watch out for clones
I ahve seen them sell tools, that the plastic colors are identical to tool like.... makita etc. they dont say makita, cummings doesnt tell you they are makita...but first glance, a amature would think they are picking up a brand name
Cumming sales use the HF model. Lots of knockoff Chinese stuff and factory reman stuff.
They are local, but I have not been in for awhile. Used to be 98% Ryobi in the reman section.
But as for as factory reman tools, in general, most people that have bought them like them. I have a couple of Boosch.
And Ridgit is starting to get a good name. So it is worth checking them out.
I just got the same flyer and I'm going to check it out. I've never even heard of Cummins until I saw this flyer. That ad for the table saw caught my eye too... that's a great price. I bought my Rigid TS reconditioned from Home Depot for $379 and thought I got a good deal. FWIW, that was almost three years ago and it's still performing flawlessly.
$20 for 30 ft Fat Max tapes.... that's 10 bones off, or buy two get one free. That alone will be worth a peep. A lot of the stuff in the flyer does look like Harbor Freight crap, but I'm curious enough to check it out.
I've bought a few things from them. One time I picked up a small electric tool - DART tool, I think. Had stopped by after work, bought it, got home and plugged it in - didn't work!
Rushed back over there (fortunately just a couple minutes drive) just before they closed up. They happily exchanged it, and had me plug in the new one to make sure it worked.
Saved me the hassle of trying to deal with the return by mail - probably never would have gotten around to taking care of it.
Of course, I don't think I've yet used that tool for anything, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. . . .
Last time I went in there sale deal I'd bought 3 bulb thermometers.
I had them laid on the trailer deck while he went to get other stuff when I noticed all 3 identical thermometers had differents readings.
Sheesh man, R U picky or something? They're just tryijng to satisfy everyone. This way you can pick the one that you like and feel more comfortable at any given time of day. I love the idea. My wife is always hot and My feet are always cold...betcha feel better about it now, dontcha?;)
