Ridgid Miter Saw Stand-$99 Home Depot
I stopped by my local Home Depot tonight and they have the Ridgid MS-UV miter saw stand for $99 marked down from $149 marked down from $199. It looks like it is in store only as it is still at $149 online.
My understanding is Home Depot blows these out every year at this time and people wait for the sale so they will likely go fast.

Walter,
I'm having a brain block this morning....
Does Bangor have a Lowes? Is so, where? I know where HD is.
You ever go to Mardens for bolts, etc?
oldfred
Fred,
There just in the process of breaking ground in Brewer where the Agway stood for the first Lowes. There was a piece on the NBC local news 2 here or 6 out of Portland.
Mardens is a real good spot at times- just depends if you hit it right for some things. Bolts and such are always there.

i bought two about 3 years ago... i think they were $50 ( can't remember... $50 or $99 ) on that promotion..
anyways, we have our Bosch SCM on one .... and we love it... the big wheels and fold-up make it possible to move the saw to lot's of locations
the other MSU is still in it's original box out in the shop
I bought one last week, should have bought it a long time ago. Works great
and the salesman swore $150 was the cheapest, so I bought one last month...
think I could get my $50 back?
What!? a salesman that lied??
who would have thunk it! :)
Geoff
My mother-in-law would buy another one for $99 and take it back with the $150 receipt.
Just go back with the receipt and they should adjust it down.
If not go to the tools/checkout/return counter/and return it.
I think they have like 90 day policy.
right now its on sale here for 99 plus a manufactor rebate of 50 for a total of 49.
i almost got it but its a hundred pounds without the saw! Forget it !
The dewalt is 39 pounds. I'll spend more and carry less.
For a total of 49? Dang, but
I'm still not going to go buy another one.

I'll spend more and carry less
Look again. The Ridgid has wheels, you don't carry it - you roll it.
I'll agree - I have not seen a better stand.
Plus HD just refunded me the $50 difference from when I bought it two months back.
Treat every person you meet like you will know them the rest of your life - you just might!
Yes I know it well. I have been keeping an eye on the price of both the dewalt $189 and the ridgid. Has two big wheels and folds up into a hand truck(kinda). Its 100lbs without the saw. I need to move it from job to job. With the saw God only knows how heavy it will be. and bulky to. I was so close to buying it the other day and decided against it. at a third the weight the dewalt also has a further stand out support.

just bought that bigboy home-the ridgid that is- yes it is a hoss daddy ! I actualy think the thing will hold my clipper blockbuster masonry saw, man I hope not, that will force me to make more use of it .
I was mostly just joking with you, however, I must say I have the Ridgid stand with a Makita 1013 on it and also have to move it from job to job. Rides upright in my van and works quite well.
I don't have any experience with the DeWalt, but, have used other systems that break down. I really like leaving the saw mounted on the stand and rolling it around.
I actually bought 5 the first time they went on sale for $99. Gave two away mounted my Makita on one, mounted an old Craftsman on another that I leave in the garage, and have one for my thickness planer - use the rollers for infeed and outfeed supports.
Whatever works for you.
>>> The Ridgid has wheels, you don't carry it - you roll it.
That includes rolling it up into the truck? Need ramps for that, add another 30 lbs to lug around :-)
I agree with Alltrade, too heavy for me. Guess I'm a wuss.
You said it, not me lol
I find it very easy to get in and out of my van without ramps, might be harder with a pick up though.
Use what works for you
According to the sign in the local HD that $50 rebate is if you buy it with a Rigdt Miter Saw (IIRC the 12" SCM)..
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
"The dewalt is 39 pounds. I'll spend more and carry less"The Ridgid stand has WHEELS, that's the whole point so you don't carry it, you roll it around.
BruceT
Not just wheels. LARGE wheels that roll easily over rough ground, cords, hoses and all kinds of crapola. It is very stable when set up as well.
I bought mine 3 years ago and mounted my PC 12" CMS on it. I have little shop space so I think I'll get two more. One for a joiner and one for a planer.
I paid $99 for it then and worth every penny....The unspoken word is capital. We can invest it or we can squander it. -Mark Twain...

...aim low boys, they're ridin' shetland ponies !!
Not only that, but you can roll it up and down stairs without the worry of dinging walls. Fits through doorways and all. Stands upright and rolls around great!
To Rigid & Home Depot: That will be $10K each for the nationwide testimonials. =0) Or, at the very least, a free one shipped to each of us. Right 24/7?...The unspoken word is capital. We can invest it or we can squander it. -Mark Twain...

That comment got me thinking, I wonder if the large companies (DW, Bosch, Makita, Mil, and so on) pay any attention to customer when they don't get a complaint handled to their liking, and threaten to go on the net and tell the world about their problem?

I would hope that they do. You can have instant recognition with this medium.
Therein lies the rub. Responsibility, truthfulness.
No matter how much you feel you are right and "they" are wrong, one must exercise some restraint and common sense all the while maintaining credibility if you wish your side to be taken seriously.
And document, document, document. Keep all records religiously if you wish to escalate the dispute to "open warfare'.
No matter the reason for the difference always remember these corporations maintain legions, it seems, of litigators (sounds like aligators?). They can outwait you and your heirs and they are prepared to do so. I'm sure many even figure in a percentage of this in their daily operations.

Its great in a shop. I would have bought if that was the only place I needed it butI use it in cutomers homes, garage , basement , etc. Not to mention I do a lot of jig set ups where it wont work for smaller size cuts.
Great in a shop?
Why would someone want a portable saw stand dedicated to a shop?
These pretzels, are making me thirsty.
To stand it in a corner, out of the way, when not being used often. I do the same. Small space. It allows me flexibility while keeping things handy. No lifting the whole tool each time, just an end that pivots upward. ...The unspoken word is capital. We can invest it or we can squander it. -Mark Twain...

I understand why it would be handy for a small shop......but this unit is ideal for hauling to, from and around the jobsite.
I love the unit....bought it on a whim the last time they marked 'em down to $99. This after swearing I'd never buy a miter stand.
These pretzels, are making me thirsty.
When I saw this thread yesterday I called my nearest HD (85miles away) to see if they had any. They said yes and offered to hold for me. I drove out this AM and scored two. One for my new thickness planer and one for the jointer I haven't decided upon yet. As I said, small shop area and they work nicely this way for me.
The portability with the CMS is great. I've used mine many times with my kids' places and for work I've done for friends. I don't have to leave the tool somewhere. Portability and peace of mind as to where it is....The unspoken word is capital. We can invest it or we can squander it. -Mark Twain...

Any chance you have any details on the $50 rebate; I can't find anything at HD store or Ridgid online?Jerry
The rebate applies if you purchase a Ridgid miter saw on the same ticket. The rebate was for 50% of the stand cost. The HD by me had a display near the pro desk that had the stands and the saws with a big sign promoting the rebate.
Thanks for the heads up kdrab, been waiting for eternity for these to go back on sale. I can't say enough about the stand and my Makita slider has worked perfectly on mine for about a year. Dad and both brothers have just snatched up 3 at the local HD.
Thanks dude...looks like I'll be heading back to the box for a second.
I love that stand and was sorry I didn't get two the first sale around..and a fifty dollar rebate? This I gotsta see!

Hopefully there will be one waiting for me tomorrow. Can't turn down that price w/ a rebate. Would be nice not to have to set up a work bench for my saw every time.Bobbi
are you guys sure that the ridgid mitre saw stand your talking about had wheels? I was just in HD this morning and saw the saw :P stand for $99. That model had no wheels. The DW on the floor next to it for $189 also had no wheels. arthurhttp://www.thesmallbuildingcompany.com

It's the one with wheels. Every year these guys get them for $99. I checked my local HD yesterday, no sale, regular price $169. Darn."This is a process, not an event."--Sphere
The HD in S. Portland has them for $99. I went down to Inter Med yesterday and checked that store to be sure. It lasts until March 21 according to the sticker.
Walter
Really? I drove right by there twice today. The one on Riverside is closer to my house, so that's the one I checked yesterday.
Are you done at Moosehead yet?"This is a process, not an event."--Sphere
Yes I finished my little part of that project on Monday- then drove home 3 hours in nasty road conditions.
I'm not normally down your way, but had to see my infectious disease Dr. yesterday on Foden Rd so I looked at HD to see if they had them-which they did. I didn't buy since I figured my Bangor store would also have them
Walter
thanks.. yeah thats a different stand from the one I saw.. did not see the one in the picture.. sounds and looks like a great deal.arthur
