Any thoughts on the Ridgid 12in slinging compound miter saw vs the same saw in the Dewalt. Looking to buy one or the other this week. I like what Ridgid has to offer, but I am a big fan of Dewalt power tools.

The Dewalt 12" sliding Compound Miter saw is one of the best out there. Great saw.
That and their table saw is about the only Dewalt tool I would touch.
Wouldn't touch Rigid with a 10' Barge Pole.
There's my 2 cents worth.
I'm with Diamond on this. Tried the Ridgid a few times( my one sub uses one) Wouldn't buy it for $100. Stick with the Dewalt.

If those are the only choices, I suppose I`d settle for Dewalt.
I own the Makita.....best on the market in my opinion.....Hitachi a close second.
Should you find yourself in the same conundrum over a table saw, go with the Ridgid.
WANTED!
New Tagline.
I saw the Rigid on the shelf. man looks like a beast. what's the wieght on that thing? I know alot of people like the Dewalt 12". I got a great deal on the makita, Dewalt was offering a bonus boom box with their saw. But the boom box won't make me work faster or better. I stuck with the Makita deal.
57lbs if I remember right
I have used the Ridgid 12" SCMS quite a bit. I would not hesitate to buy one if I had a job with a lot of very large crown, or maybe a lot of 6x6 rail posts running up and down stairs. It's accurate and easy to use, took me a little getting used to as a very long time Hitachi user, but worked great and I ran a mile of big crown with it. Weighs enough that moving it alone is a drag.
I havent used the rigid. I have the Dewalt and would certainly buy it again(actually I did buy it again when I was robbed), IMO its not too heavy to carry around by myself. Its heavy but not too bad.
the dewalt 12 scms is the best saw i have owned or used including the ridgid
i install kitchen cabinets all day everyday usually with a large prefinished crown molding
granted a weekly tune up and sharpening is required, but at 80 bucks a 8foot length, and 40 bucks per 8 foot length installation, who cares
i can tweak that saw plus or minus a quarter of degree to maintain reveals and the cut quality(with a really good frued blade) is flawless ie glass smooth miters
i cant stress enough, for those who do "really fine carpentry" ie prefinished materials, how important regular tune ups are
my regular sat mornings are devoted to changing blades, checking and fine tuning everything from the skillsaw to both of my 12 inch scms
any tool requires regular maintenance and sharpening
caulking is not a piece of trim
I'm with diamond on this one as well. Good Luck.
just got the Bosch 10".
Love it. easy to use, fits the dewalt bench, which is great.
They alos make the 12" if you really need that big
