Rigid 350 Full Round Head Framing Nailer
Does anybody own a Rigid FRH framing nailer? I am thinking about putting one in my next container coming to Japan. That particular nailer accepts .162″ shank diameter nails, which are the standard here in Japan (for 3 1/2″ nails). I can get Max, Makita, and Hitachi over here, but they are almost $1000 each for any type of gun – stick nailer or roll, 400psi or regular. Is the Rigid worth importing, is it dependable, or should I just buy a local gun here in Japan?? Advice would be appreciated…
Thanks

damn, am I fat!
Just my opinion, but I tend to buy what I can get parts for, so my first choice might be a Hitachi or Makita.
I think you may need to get the compressor for the Max, which would drive the price up a little.

I was framing/finishing in Calgary for the summer, and picked up a MAX FRH nailer there, but oddly enough, it doesn't fit the large sized diameter nails I need for building here in Japan. I buy materials for my houses from Curtis Lumber in Burnaby, but don't know where to get decent priced tools. I look on Amazon.com and they are always cheap, but they won't ship to Japan or Canada....
May have to buy locally here in Japan.

I currently have one. Am not inpressed with it. When shooting 8's it tends to get hung up, have to push them forward by hand.
It is as if the spring is not strong enough. It could also be the nails I am using, although I have used 2 different brands.
It seems to shoot 16's fine.
I am not a framer, I do repairs, remodling types stuff. If I was framing I would not buy one.
Hope this helps

I guess I have two choices: Porter Cable makes a 350MAG FRH framing nailer that'll fit Japanese large diameter framing nails, that gun may be a better choice, or, I can just go ahead and spend the money for a Hitachi or a Makita....
Thanks for the advice,

If you can buy replacement parts, then this is an option.
