Greetings,
Im building a roof system that will have open beam work with 1×6 sheathing(1/2″ply on top for shear value) followed with rigid foam insulation 4.5″.My quest is whether to provide air space and venting or close this space off to air flow?I am building in the Pacific NW area if that is a consideration. jv

But alas! we do like cowbirds and cuckoos, which lay their eggs in nests which other birds have built, and cheer no traveller with their chattering and unmusical notes. Shall we forever resign the pleasure of construction to the carpenter? What does architecture amount to in the experience of the mass of men?

In the event you fail to receive the information you requested you may be able to find it in the archive listing of old threads on Breaktime.
If you scroll up in the upper left corner of your screen there is an advanced search function that will take you to a page of instructions directing you to previous threads dealing with whatever you type in the search bar.
If you type in 'roof venting', 'foam insulation', or other keywords of the subject matter you'll get a supply of data from those old threads.
Cheers
