Rinnai or Noritz for Tankless WH?
Hello All,
I’ve read a lot of the archives and I don’t want this to turn into a discussion of why tankless WH are better or worse than tanked. I’ve already decided that I am getting one.
Having read the archives it seems like Noritz and Rinnai are the two most popular choices. I’ve read both companies websites and I don’t think I see a strong winner.
Assuming that I have a plumber who is equally capable of installing either, is there a strong reason to go with one over the other?
On another note it annoys the crud out of me that they force me to pay a plumber to install their products if I want a warrenty….I’m going to do an external mount in a non-freezing climate so no venting issues, I’ve read the installation manuals for both and it doesn’t really seem that difficult…
Thanks,
Daniel Neumansky

You know I thought I had read that entire thread but I must of missed your post. So you liked Takagi because of their warrenty.
I have not seen any takagi's being installed around here by pro's. A very unscientific and informal poll of my local plumbing supply places showed that they each stocked the two lower end tankless models from Rinnai and Noritz but not Takagi...not sure if that means anything.

And I went thru the company's website to find a local distributor, who put me in touch with a supply house, whom I requested to refer me to their client that bought the most of that make and model. He turned out to be a plumber that lives a mile away.
So hopefully, I got the most experienced installed of this type.
