I have been looking for a convenient way to hang my level and saw guide in the van. Bicycle hooks are nearly ideal in size and their vinyl coating resists sliding, but I could not find any with machine threads for bolting them to the roof braces. Wood threads of course won’t work well in sheet metal.
Then the lightbulb came on. The lagscrew threads on bike hooks fit loosely into the slots stamped at intervals into Econoline roof cross-braces (or into a hole of similar diameter drilled anywhere in the brace) and a plywood jam nut tightened 3/4 turn provides enough tension to hold the hook firmly in place. I straightened the first bend of the standard hook somewhat to hold things a little closer to the roof.
I hope someone finds this idea useful.

Cool idea. Still sort of regret not getting a van. Someday though!
Cool, check out the broom clips I put in last year , I thought they might wear out but they are still pretty snug and I use em every day.Message 2260 under what tool did you buy today.
