Guys,
I hope to soon be installing a fan/light combination above my shower in the next month or so. What is a fair price for a roofing company to come out and cut the hole and install the vent. I’ll run the line to the vent, etc. I just need to know what this should cost. (standard roof, no dramatic pitch or anything like that.)
Thanks,
Gary

Gary......if you can run the duct work.....then just cut the hole too! That's the easy part!
Don't know what the partial job would run........still gotta set up and clean up. Job it's self is usually pretty straight forward. Sometimes takes a long to get up there as it does cut and flash.
You're in Cleve right? Give Pete "Mr Dish"Dragnet a call.........he's got all the ladders you'll need......maybe he'll even throw on a dish while he's up there.
I'd say just a small coupla hundred bucks. Jeff

Gary,
Tough to figure a job like that. I`d probably charge it T&M @ $35/hr. I`d estimate a couple of hours time. Be willing to wait, I doubt anyones gonna be rushing over to do it.
On the other hand if there`s ANY way to avoid going through the roof, I`d recomend that route. The less holes popping through the better off you are. Can you take it out the soffet?

Jaybird,
No soffit to go through. could go out the side of the house, but that's brick and would probably be a hell of a lot more work. Jeff, the last thing I want to do is screw up my roof. I'll tackle many things, but I'm no roofing expert!!
Gary
Gary,
You`re right, brick is a lot more work. The problem is, the easier way is not always (in fact, I find, is rarely) the best way. Poking another hole through your roof, one that will vent damp warm air, past snow and ice may be asking for trouble. Forget about the percipitation that may find its way into your home, I`ve actually seen instances where the warm exhaust air condenses inside the vent tube in cold climates, and runs right back into the room through the fan.
Best of luck!J. D. Reynolds
