I just moved into this great house outside of San Antonio, and I’m stumped with a roofing/bug problem.
It’s stucco with a standing seam metal roof, and a huge standing-height space in the attic over the garage that has a plywood subfloor even. The attic itself is continuous over the whole house, including the open space above the garage.
The problem is that Red Wasps are common here (so I discovered). They are dark red and over an inch long. Every time I go into my attic to get something or put something away (totes of Halloween decor, etc) there are always a bunch of these wasps flying around up there.
I can see light at the peak of the roof where it is vented, and I have seen wasps outside flying to the top roof vent and underneath them.
So, I need to button my attic up, and I’m assuming the roof vent at the cap is my problem. I might actually have to farm this job out. Is it a roofer’s problem, or should I try an insulation contractor? I have no idea how I should tackle this one.
All your help & input is appreciated.

Set off a sulfer candle at night. Or go at em in with Ortho or similar Wasp an Hornet Spray at the time they are cold.
Uh.run like hell if ya fail to kill, they can get really pissed off, really fast.
Actualy, any spray with Sevin ( will kill every bee, good and bad) is a long term, but you need knock down so if there is no open flames you can use the straw from WD_40 and Brak-kleen or starting fluid.
Make sure ya hand the lit ciggarette to the wife, are wearing fast running shoes, have an EPI-PEN, and dial 9-1 , and have yore hand on the "1" when ya hit the trigger.
Piece o' cake.

keep them out..
I used brass wool, it's a scouring pad that hardware stores and speciallty stores have made out of brass so it doesn't rust. I stuffed it in areas that would be prone to having wasps and it's kept them out thus far..(about 6 years) air moves freely thru it so you don't defeat the intent of the vent or whatever..
