If adding a new roof addition (black) to the old (blue),
at the red arrow intersection after the new and old sheathing has been joined to a point, old low slope meeting new steeper slope,
what normal asphalt shingling technique is used there for continuing the water runoff over the slope point?
diagram pretty much at actual angle.
Thanks

My two cents---
Ice membrain and if possible same color singles but in low slope to extend the coverage over the splice.
Maybe run metal flashing over the joint first???
Not bad for a jet engine mechanic!;)

With an addition, there always exists the possibility of movement, either from settling, or from materials shrinkage. so either a metal strip spanning the joint and lapping over the lower tarpaper ( yes - use TP!) or a strip of Vycor or other I&W doing same.
You are bsicly going to just shingle uip tp blend under the existing shingles, matching the pattern. You hope the old shingles are not too old and brittle to work the nails lose and slide new shingles under. Try to plan so patterns in shingle meet properly.
