Try not to fall off. It might help if you gave a bit more information. What type of roofing, new roof, re-roof, type of climate, existing conditions, etc.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Thanks for the tip! I will try and hold on. We are removing the existing composition roofing on an A-frame portion and extention of the house. We are intalling tec-shield barrier OSB, 30lb felt paper and slate composition roofing. (as well as flashing) As for the climate/conditions, it is mid 60's, windy and overcast.
"slate composition roofing"It is either slate or composition shingles, not both.Maybe you mean one of the new imitation slate products - got a brand name?

The question about climate had more to do with whether you might want an ice and water shield, in case you are in a cold area with snow and the possibility of ice dams. Typically used with asphalt shingles. If you are an employer, you should follow OSHA fall protection standards. An 8/12 roof is steep enough that you should have roof jacks. I wouldn't just walk. particularly if it's slate. The other safety aspects should be on your fall protection plan. Are you adding the OSB to the existing sheathing? For the weight of the slate, or just for a fresh surface? If so, how is that going to effect the trim work? Some types of drip edge will cover the additional thickness, others may not. Sorry, I'm just guessing at your question. I don't really know what you want to know. On a written forum, it helps to be specific and detailed. Most of us can't read your mind.Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
An 8 in 12 A-frame? Never seen one of those before.

Maybe it is an old A frame and suffers from sagging and middle age spread?
Life is Good
That would be a lotta sag. Most A-frames I've ever been near haved a roof that's north of 20:12.

Come on guy - a lot of help here if you can communicate. For instance on climate - "it is mid 60's, windy and overcast. "
You commented on weather, not climate. You install a roof for the year round climate, not for the conditions of that one day.Nobody knows what you need to know until you give a hint what experience if any, you have roofing.Let's try again. You have several questions to answer, then you can get some helpful suggestions.

Well, I googled your user name - New Creation Construction - and you could be in GA, WA, PA, or a bucketload of other places. Evidently a popular name.
Those three places would all call for different approaches to a roof install.
Better tell us where you is.
Maybe you're my next door neighbor. Who knows. He's shingling a steep roof right now...

Yes - the first thing you need to do on this project is fill in your profile. This will help everyone give you advice based on the building practices and climate of your location.
Another suggestion: Look at synthetic underlayments instead of felt. It weighs less, goes on in fewer passes, and lays flat even when rained on. Titanium UDL and RoofTopGuard are some of the leading products, they cost around $140 for a 10sq roll you can carry up the ladder under one arm.
