I want to build a screened in room over this whole deck, I question how the roof lines will be. I thought about just coming off the facia and go straight out but worried about the drop and head room. If I had to I could lower the deck to accomidate this. With the other route the valleys have me confused. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
The picture is a little deceiving…… Both decks are 8′ deep and 15′ wide and about a 2′ drop between the two.

I re-did the plans for the deck......
Someone mention a metal screen room with a solid roof at work?
I was hoping for something a little cheaper in price that can hold up to some weather and time. I want to do this right in the first place.

I like to add a porch roof by setting the top end of rafters above the wall instead of at tht efascia. There are several reasons for that. One is that it is the better way structurally. I have no idea how a fascia was fastened or if it has a subfascia that is structrual enough to hold added structrual load.Another reason is that it allows me to have decent pitch and to still have a view at the drip end. Finally - the location of yours is at a roof valley so to simplify falshing details, I would want the entire porch roof to tie in with the existing roof plane and not have step flashing to the old fascia on one side. This means that your existing roof would be open for a period of time, but you can deal with that using slips to divert water and a tarp for safety. clear as mud?

I wrote one thing but meant another... :-)
I wouldn't have just added something to the fascia like you said too many hidden's, including rot. I have had previously removed the fascia in other tasks put a good base then the frame work for the roof but they were smaller in size and didn't require so much drop. I do like your idea about putting the rafters on the wall and might go that route, just hate to rip up the roof. If I need to, to make it "right" functionally and aesthetically I will.

This is where I am lost. I can't see what you are saying but think this may be my answer.

heresee because you intersect two roof planes on either side of the valley with a single shed roof plane, at one side it is smooth, but at the otehr intersect, the new plane runs up along the existing fascia unless you plan to raise it as high as shown here. I haad to assume a lot of values but this should get the idea across.

I see what you are saying on the top part or roof lines. When I originally got to thinking about this I thought about a gabled end situation on the porch roof. But I would have had a valley between the slopes. Bad juju with water in my opinion.
Doing it the way you just described I would have to build a box under roof to hide the roof being raised shingles and the soffet (sp) below I am assuming?Semper Fi

sometimes it looks fine to just leave the existing. sometimes you can frame and finish a leveled ceiliong just under the soffit level or same aasit.Bad juju definitely - that is what we call a dead valley - gauranteed to leak.
