I have a 6 year old roof on my workshop. The shingles are 25 year GAF three-tab. When I put the roof on (myself) I used the straight up method meaning took two rows straight up at a time. It sure was easier keeping the tabs straight. Now I have noticed some curling on the corners of the tabs where the butt ends met on this method. In other words straight up the roof every three feet. Is this a common problem with this method or do I have a possible ventilation problem or defective shingles. This side faces the afternoon sun. The attic is closed off. But I used continuous ridge vent with soffit vents(12×8) every three feet. I also want answers because I am wanting to shingle my house within the next couple of years with this same shingle. And I also like the straight up method. If you can help from your roofing experiences please post a reply. I would much appreciate it.
