Looking for information on composition shingles. Have received a bid for Celotex Presidential shingles (40 year). Does anyone have any comments? I gather that Certainteed purchased Celotex and has several other high end shingle products. I’m specifically curious about their triple laminate shingles, accompanied by a lifetime guarantee. I believe one is called “Grand Manor.”
Thanks in advance

The Grand Manor is a good shingle. Look at the web site for them and any other shingles you are considering.
Reputation of the installer is far more important than the specific product when you are looking for a lifetime roof.
Excellence is its own reward!
I installed them on a house I owned over 15 years ago and when I pass the house they still look great. I remember them being harder to work with when cutting because they were so thick.
One thing I should have done on a corner of the house where there was a large tree was to add zinc strips to keep the moss away.
Its a great shingle in my opinion.
Be well

Grand Manors are a great (if expensive product). Certainteed has an installer's course/certificate. Look for a roofer with this or take the course yourself. The study book they give you has about everything you should need to know. Invest in a shingle shear, since GM's are harder to cut.
Andy can you elaborate on the zinc strips and their placement.

There are several kinds of zinc strips for roofs. The best for a long run would be the kind that go up at the peak. They come in 20' lengths and are about a dollar a foot. There are all kinds of zinc strips so I'd ask at your local roofing supplier if you intend to use the product as I've seen so many different methods.Chemical moss control for roofs

Thanks Andy :-)
That link answered observations that I didn't know I had Questions to. Printed the entire control article and added it to the methods and help library.
Thanks again!
