I am looking at cutting a hole in a perfectly good roof! !, all to add light to a dark, y shaped hall, Plan is to add at center of Y a 13 or 14″ unit. Question is which one! several contenders out there, one main dif. is flashing. I see plastic flashing???(u/v + age = crack / failure??? down road??) aluminum?? and galvanized steel. This is on front of house so looks matter and NO leaks! matter. Galvanized is ugly and does not paintbwell. I am leaning to aluminum?
Comments, anyone used these?? favorites? thanks to all, Dave

I lean to Galvanized, white vinegar wash, rinse, dry, Rustoleum spray paint

Dave... we sold SunTunnel for 5 years until Velux bought them...
they bought them because they're the best.. their 14" unit will do just fine..
painted steel flashing... easiest install
here's a 22"....... typical install is on an existing roof .. they go in pretty slick

Velux Suntunnel. Get the high impact resistance acrylic for a few bucks more. Flashing looks like aluminum, but they call it Zincalume.
