Guys,
I’m want to attach my Kreg bench clamps (with the 9 inch square plates) to an assembly/outfeed table (like Gary Streigler’s job-site setup in the recent FHB article). I’m going to use a router to make the 1/4 inch recess in the table. Because the Kreg clamp plate is so much bigger than my router base, my entire router could just sit inside of the template. I’m not sure the best way to remove all of the material from the middle. (Shift the template around?) Has anyone done this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Frank R.

Rout the out side perimeter first withthe template(?) and then whittle away from the center out to there w/o any template in the way.
Why do you need a template for a 9" sq.? Just sneak up to the lines freehand.

That's perfect. I can do that. Thanks for the help.

Use two templates. Start with a small one for the middle, and then switch.
Rout a doughnut, leaving a small pillar in the middle, and then pop that off with a chisel.
