I know Joe Fusco was a forum contributor here and thought those that knew him would want to know. I also posted this over at JLC and if anyone knew if he frequented other forums please pass this sad news along.
I’m sad to post this thread, but Joseph Fusco, a long time forum contributor and good friend passed away on May 18th 2010. I’m not sure of the details of his passing, but he had two stints back in 2007 and his passing was sudden so I assume it was heart related.
Many of you knew him and many more gained much information from his web site which contains a wealth of information. He was respected for his knowledge of roof framing and finish carpentry. He dedicated much of his time and energy to his own web site and many how-to videos. He loved carpentry and dedicated his entire life to it.
Joe and I finally met last year at my home, and we had lunch with my wife and talked. I knew I found a good friend who shared many common interests, and I’m fortunate to have met him.
The reason for the long delay of this announcement is because I just became aware of it yesterday morning. I’ve been calling him and he was not returning my calls and he has not been posting on his own forum. I’ve been very busy with work and Joe was going through a big life change at the time, so I didn’t peruse it thinking we all get caught up in our lives, but it was on my mind each day because he would always return calls. I finally did a Google search and found this link from a local Staten Island paper. Apparently his family was not in the loop of his internet forum activities because I’m sure they would have posted his passing.

We lost a good man.
Joe went abck to the original Breaktime with his posts. I always learned from his post and even enjoyed the 'flame wars" he got into with Adirondike Jack and a few others.
RIP Joe.
So long Joe.
My condolences to his family and all who knew him.
Glad I got to correspond with him a few times off the board. It gave a little more insight into the guy behind that gruff persona.
I'm stunned
Just heard about this.
I too have had correspondence with Joe off the boards, you couldn't find a more helpful person.
My prayers and thoughts go out to his family.
I didn't realize he was only 50 YO!
I have been Fusconized a time or two, but I can say that when he dope-slapped me, it was only because I deserved it.

Now we have two to raise our glass to at the fest. I don't like that part one bit. But to honor a couple of the most charismatic members of the board, it's only right. Downside is I never had the pleasure of Joe's company. Thought for sure we could lure him out to Andy's being it was in the neighborhood.
I'm really sorry to hear the news. My other incarnation is Ted W but I can't remember the email address I used, so logged in with this DIYGuy account to post a question. Joe has given me and so many others here some really good advice, besides just being a heck of a nice guy. He will be missed. My condolences to his family, friends and all those who crossed his path here in these forums. It is a sad day indeed.
Very sad. I've "known" him
Very sad. I've "known" him for many years through this site...from back in the days that he, Freddy, and Gabe used to go at it. He was clearly strong willed and a hard worker. He had an excellent command of mathematics.
We've lost another good one.

First of all i want to give my condolences to Joe's family and friends. He sounded like a great bloke, and a very good carpenter, keeping the skills in the trade very much alive, such a loss.
I am 23 years old and i have been working as a carpenter in the U.K since i left school at 16, i recently discovered a video by Joe on you tube detailing how to lay out commom rafters, which i thought to be a terrific method. If possible do you know how or where i can find more of his material / how to videos? As i feel i can gain a more in depth knowledge into carpentry because of Joe and his skill set.
If so you can e-mail me at [email protected]
Kind Regards
Ceiron Green
Whjat better testimony to what he did than that his efforts to share his wealth of knowledge lives on somewhere and is still found helpful.
I had once downloaded as much as possible of his work, but lost it all in a viral attack on my PC last winter. Maybe somneone else has some of it.
Meanwhile, best wishes in your pursuit of a grand career. May your customers bless you as you bless them with quality workmanship
