these recall notices usually die quietly here, but just in case someone has one..
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Amprobe is voluntarily recalling the ACD-10 PRO, ACD-10 TRMS-PRO, ACD-14 and ACD-14 TRMS Digital Clamp Meters. Please stop using all of these products and return your unit to Amprobe and your unit will be replaced with an AC75B or ACD-15 TRMS PRO Digital Clamp Meter
Description of the Problem
The ACD-10 PRO, ACD-10 TRMS-PRO, ACD-14 and ACD-14 TRMS models “lock up” in certain circumstances failing to properly measure hazardous voltage levels on electrical systems. When the clamp meter locks up it provides readings under 1 volt or a millivolt reading. If the user does not follow industry standard practice by verifying the tester before and after checking a circuit, he/she may believe there is no voltage present when in fact there is. THIS COULD PLACE THE USER IN A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION.
Requested Actions
Stop using your ACD-10 PRO, ACD-10 TRMS-PRO, ACD-14 or ACD-14 TRMS Clamp Meter and contact Amprobe directly for a free replacement clamp meter. A postage-paid return mailer and a return tracking number can be requested through the worldwide web (use the Continue button below) -OR- by calling 1-800-350-8661 Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific Time.

" If the user does not follow industry standard practice by verifying the tester before and after checking a circuit,"
Do you verify you meter before and after each measurement?
How many of the other people do you know that does that.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
uuuuh...Zero....hahahahaha seriously I've tried to remind apprentices to do this but there have been instances where just finding the breaker or disco has been an adventure..when I finally get the thing shut off I wondered if the tester just brokethe one thing I check
and re-check,and re-re-check is the stupid tic tracers...andI have no idea WHAT to do with my neon tester anymore..LOL.

I love my Tic Tester. But where it is critical, such as verifying that a circuit is off, I try with the circuit hot, then flip the breaker and try it again..

eah I have a lo volt tic from Fluke and the thing gets triggered in my pocket ..sometimes from static I guess, but I check the circuit I'm in constantly.

The Fluke tic tester I have has an on and off button. Much more accurate then the other ones.
Think ya used enough dynamite there, Butch?
that' cuz you get the big bucks.I picked up the little LED flashlight with clip and ticker built-in..changes from blue to red like yours does so there.

I love the flashliight. I don't like it at all for a tick tester though.
