I have recently installed new tongue and groove 3/4 inch red oak flooring. I am looking for suggestions on a filler to be squeegeed or troweled on to fill small cracks nail holes, etc. before final sanding.
I am worried about the product being used not taking the stain at the same rate as surrounding wood, therefore standing out at completion.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've used Sherwin Williams wood filler on red oak with great success. I was filling holes that were 3/8 inch in diameter and the stain made them almost impossible to see. I used Minwax stain in Golden Oak color FWIW and sealed with three coats of polyurethane. This was not on a walking surface however.
