I'm bumping this up to the top - maybe someone with some knowledge can help ya out.
I live in a sauna climate, so we don't have such things around here. Sorry I can't help ya, but maybe someone will.

Ok, so what "roof" does the existing front porch basement have? I'm still trying to picture that a bit.
Google for sauna heaters (I got circa 150,000 hits) and it looks like both 120 & 240VAC units are available, the wattages are all over the place (worse than hair dryers & space heaters)--after you chose a unit, you'd need to check with an electrician familiar with your AHJ for sizes and the like.
That being said, it may not be a bad project. With a caveat. Part of the sauna "thing" is heat at a controlled humidity. Another thing is that the wall of the sauna are selected for not only their compatibility with the heat, but your compatibility with hot lumber. It's slightly more sophisticated than "tossing in a bench" and plugging in a heater.
I'm not saying the idea is bad or dumb or wacky. What I am saying is that it's worth looking at the kit saunas out there. Taking advantage of fully-matured technology means you are less likely to get burned (literally) learning it yourself.
That's just my opinion, others differ.
