I have job coming up that involves new cedar wall shingles on the gables of an existing home. Two of the dormers set in from the lower eave by about 8ft. Any advice on staging for this?

For shingles? Roof jacks and plank for the face.
Run ladders off the ridge, to the eave would be nice, for the sides. You could stop now where I am at, but I would add the following.
Pipe staging up to the height of the face plank will let you build a platform that will make short work of this. If others will have to work after you this will be well worth it, just watch your liability.
A lot of the above also depends on where you are, you may be required to use safety rails, harnesses, etc.
