Does anyone know of a good project scheduling software that is user friendly, effective, and not so masive from a computer storage standpoint ?

Hey JWESLEY,
I use good-ol basic MS Outlook, which comes standard on almost any computer these days. It's very simple, straight forward and downloads onto most PalmPilots, Blackberries, etc. for use in the field. I'm a big fan of the simpler the better, unless you have multiple crews/jobs and need to be interactive.
Use whatever scheduling software you like.

ACTUALLY, IT'S QUITE GOOD ON TOAST!
I have used Microsoft Project for scheduling longer jobs, and it's a nice tool. I never used more than about 10% of its capabilities, I mostly just established durations for each task, sorted them into sequence, and then linked them as appropriate so that it was clear which tasks had to precede others. It was somewhat useful to me, but mostly for the owner's benefit. Not sure about the cost of that, probably not minor.
