Has anyone seen or built a screened porch using polycarbonate panels as the ceiling material? Considering this for a slightly contemporary look.

I have done a couple of covered decks with the polycarbonate panels....
There are several brands....SunTuff was the one I used, but a lot of the lumber yards are stocking the stuff now....clear, smoke, different tints.
It's a great material, very tough and doesn't yellow or crack under the UV's when installed correctly. You can actually walk on the stuff after it's installed (Not recommended) in spite of it being only 1/16" thick.
For a roof, you'd probably use, as I did, the corregated. It was a bit of a pain to tie into the house roofs and flash/weatherize effectively, but was worth the effort and expense.
The first one I did was 3 years ago and it looks as good today as the day it was finished.
I would probably not use the corrugated, but the cell type instead. Will probably be easier to tie into the roof line since its flat.
I'm just on the fence. I like the look of poly, but want to make sure it will blend well with my traditional split level without looking like I have something like a cross between a greenhouse and screened porch. I'm trying to visualize how it will blend (aestheticaly) with the roof line.
Any other picts out there?
Thanks!

Attached is a sample with what I'm thinking. Picture doesn't have screen though.

Kev, I used some polycarbonate as roofing for a shelter. I used the pearl/defuser type but the owners say it still gets very warm under there. Might add a cupola w/a fan to get trapped heat out this summer.
I used 3/8 material. It comes 4' wide and you can get lengths up to 20/30' or more I think.Good Luck!

George-
That's the kind of look I was thinking. Interesting to hear it get's warm in there even though the shelter is open. We're definately going to have a ceiling fan in there to keep the air moving.
Nice work!
