Screw size/quantity for riser to tread
Would appreciate some advice on the size and number of screws to use on the riser to tread joints of a 36″ wide staircase. The staircase has three stringers with 3/4″ risers and 1″ treads, both hardwood. I intend to glue and screw the risers to the back of the treads (I have access behind the stair)in the usual manner but am not sure what is common practice regarding the number and size of the screws. (No pocket screws are being used.)
Thanks again for any help.

Greetings Rick. Welcome to BT!
I suggest that you use the "Advanced Search" feature, found above the topics column on the left side of the main page. Check the "Photo Gallery" section for threads by StanFoster. I recall that, in one of Stan's threads from the last six months, he showed all his methods for attaching stair components to each other.
I believe that Stan uses pocket screws, to fasten the tread to the riser, making the pockets in the bottom of the tread.
This is not a structural concern so you are only pulling them snug until the glue kicks. I use some 1-3/4" x #6 GRK
