Does any on kow if they make a mixing paddle for thin set with a SDS shank? My hammer drill has an ‘non hammer’ setting and I don’t want to burn up a 20 year old 1/2″ drill motor.

No I don't believe so.
Buy a triple geared cheapie like a Sears or the one I have is The B&D Firestorm triple geared down so that it has a high torque with maybe 500 rpm's. I use it only for mixing thinset & muds of various sorts. No burnout, I think it cost around $40.
they do make a "chuck" with sds. check out ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/DW5351-DEWALT-SDS-1-2-CHUCK-ADAPTOR-FOR-ROTARY-HAMMER_W0QQitemZ150035268508QQihZ005QQcategoryZ29528QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem your just need a chuck.
Thanx US Anigel and Jer.I would hate to use an adapter bcause it probably has a set screw. Thin set is tough to mix.ThanxLive, work, build, better with wood.

WTB thinset will be too much for an SDS and the SDS will be too fast of on the RPM's and lack the torque to do the job right without you killing it......

IMERC, My Porter Cable hammer drill is variable speed. 14 amp . My B&D Industrial is 12 amp but gets hot when run for more than 6-8 minutes. I'am putting "Drylock" on a small bathroom addition foundtion.

Just an option, but I got a 3-jaw chuck / SDS adapter from Home Depot not too long ago that fits into a SDS chuck. May be an option you could look into. Cost me about 40 bucks if I remember right.

What I do is take an old sds bit and weld the shank to what I want to adapt, works like a charm. Luck.

1'2" drill should be able to mix anything you have around and then some.
You'r probably right. I have an old B/D industrial that has enough torque to about break your wrist.live, work, build, ...better with wood
