Here’s an easy one. While unexpectedly needing something to wipe my hands of painter’s caulk, I saw the frayed end of some sash cord I was using to tie up an air hose. It worked fairly well on my fingers, but the caulk did wonders to seal the fibers of the rope. I spent the next 10 minutes wiping down the ends of all of the ropes and shoe laces I use to tie up extension cords and air hoses. Works like a charm, takes only seconds and solves a nagging, on-going problem.

I dunno -- needing a place to wipe caulk off my fingers isn't really a "nagging, on-going problem'.

I use dbl sided velcro-bought a roll and cut the pcs to length. Electrical tape one end to the cord, hose, whatever and wrap.
Joining male/female cord ends plugged together is foolproof and don't come apart.
found it easier and better than 12 ga. wire, rope, string, etc.
Whatever works and suits your use is a good thing. Something we've never tried or thought of b/4 is priceless.
