sealant for new wood double hung windows
I’ll be installing new double hung wood Brosco windows. I have a feeling I should run a bead of sealant around the casing (back side of casing that contacts the black building paper) as the window is fit into the rough opening. Can anyone suggest a good sealant to use?
thanks.

Can't go wrong with Geocel.
What the problem is?
I'll give you my .02 from my own DIY experience...use some flashing tape like Grace and Vicor along wth the sealant or you may have leaks. I had to R&R several windows a few times before I solved the window leaks from severe horizontal rains, by using the flashing tape. Don't forget to use a window pan too...it's just as important.
Search the forums for leaking windows and you'll find plenty of valuable info. There is also a specific procedure to follow when installing the flashing tape. I'll try and find a link unless someone beats me to it.
