I’m working on a home with a false chimney chase that leaks during very heavy rains. It is 2 stories, capped with a large slab of limestone, with 2 false stacks rising above the slab. I’ve checked the mortar around the stone and it’s fine. I’ve also tried caulking but to no avail. When the rains are heavy and persistant, the stone and joints get soaked and water migrates in and runs down the insided of the false chase until it gets to the bottom, which is the first floor decking. It then goes down some holes that were cut for wire runs and ends up on the basement floor. Removing the top of this false chase isn’t an option since the stacks are about 8 feet tall. Has anyone had any success with a sealer similar to a tile sealer that can be applied to both brick and limestone. Thanks for the help.
