Sealing Over Old Adhesive in Basement
I’m remodeling a house and have just completed pulling up old asbestos tiles over most of the basement slab. It looks like there has been some moisture issues in the past, as the old black adhesive (which will not come off) has some mold patterns between where the tiles were throughout. I don’t want to carpet directly over it, as I would think the mold spores could seep through. Ideally, I’d like to cover it with a sealer or self-leveling compound or something like that, but don’t know what will stick/work best. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This stuff will take care of the mastic:

It's soy based, so harmless. Just poor it on, let it sit for a few hourse, then squegee it off.
It's really messy, but does a great job without any fumes.
