I’m in the planning stages of building two 3-season rental cabins here in Maine and while most things seem as straight forward as any other building, insulation seems problematic. So I would like to ask folks 1) should insulation be installed at all? and 2) if so, what material/s will result in the least moisture issues resulting from 6-7 months of heater use (ranging from constant to infrequent) to an entire unheated season for the remainder of the year (at least there are no plans for year-round heat)?
Obviously heating an uninsulated space would not seem to make any sense but if people have thoughts about any of this I’d love to hear them. Thanks.K

The best time to insulate and make sure you get a good job is when the walls are open. Experience also tells us that plans and situations always change so the best idea is to do as much as you can now.
Probably the best would be closed cell spray foam but it's expensive. Lots of people use a 1" flash coat of foam followed by something less expensive like fiberglass or cellulose.
