Hi Everyone; I am in the planning phase of a second story addition ( I am in a bungalow) and I can’t seem to get a straight answer from anyone. If possible, I would like my second story addition to sit on top of the existing ceiling joists ( not directly ). What are the construction /structural techniques or requirements for such a project ? If at all possible diagram or pictures along with an explanation would be helpful. I should also add the existing building has been assessed and passed.
Your ideas would be greatly appreciated.
