hi all,
i have an outside motion sensor light that i would like to if possible fit a switch to that i can overide the sensor and have the light on all the time…….ie at bbq’s. so we’re not waving arms around to get it on, then switch it back to sensor.
is this possible and how?
cheers

Test mode?
Mine have a test mode, which runs the light constantly.
To enter it, I have to have the power to the light switched on for three minutes. Then I flick it off, back on, then off and back on in rapid sequence. The light then turns on and stays on. Not sure how, but the girlfreind has managed to get into test mode twice without trying.
There is also, a three position mode switch located near the bottom of the light fixture itself, that lets me select: On; Dusk; or, Motion. On is just that, both sensors over ridden and the light is on anytime the switch is on. The "Dusk" runs just on the photo sensor, if the swtich is on and it gets dark the light comes on. And, "Motion" works on both the photo sensor and motion sensor, if its dark, and something moves, the light comes on.
If yours doesn't have the mode switch, it shouldn't be too hard to put one in to bypass the sensor. However, the fixture might not be weather proof afterwards, and it defineitely is no longer UL listed.
Everyone that I have ever had does have a constant on mode that is activated much as the other poster described. Turn it on, the flick on and off in rapid succession and it stays on.
