I have done quite a bit of ceramic tile but now I am into marble. I am installing 12×12 pieces of marble to redo a fireplace. Aready installed 1/2 backer board to the existing brick, with thinset mortor and galv.screws. The marble will be on the surface of the fireplace and the hearth, which is floor level. Any special tile setting mortar for marble? Tile spacing? and I assume a sandless grout. How about the added heat from the fireplace? What do I need to know???

Weird, I did this today. 12 x 12 marble. They make a thinset for Marble, so just look for it. We used 1/16 spacing. Hopefully, I'll have pictures of this tomorrow.
Good luck!
