Just build a new home and have strong sewer (septic system) odors in master bath. The home has been occupied for about one month. This meaning that all P-traps have been actively utilized and have water in them. Our noses have scanned every inch of the bathroom and have failed to detect exactly where the odor is originating. Any assistance (or suggestions) on determining if the problem is in the venting and/or what to look for would be graciously appreciated. Thanks in advance!

good chance a plumber (or his helper) left a test plug up in the stack on the roof..or missed an elboe on the vent connection if it wasn't tested..

Oracle,
I would guess the wax ring on the toilet is letting sewer gas escape.
Try a smoke test or install a trap on the main line by the septic tank.
Seems like the builder should cover this.

In a new home could be any of several things:
-- Vent stack plugged
-- Wax seal under toilet not sealing
-- Missing gasket in sink trap fittings
-- Plumber forgot the glue when connecting the sink trap to the tee
-- Etc
Also, if you're in an area where pressure inspections are either suspect or not done at all, there could be a joint failure in the wall somewhere.
If bathroom is over a crawlspace or on a slab there could be a leak below the floor. (If it's over a crawlspace then check below for signs of leakage.)
is the bath directly below the attic? I had a plumber who took the vent to the attic and cut there until we got to the roof.(remodel).and he never put it hrough the roof, and homeowner complained and I remembered it.
