I got suckered into installing a faux stone balastrade from Melton Classics. The problem lies in the fact that the spans are between round columns. The 6 3/8 by 6 3/8 hand rail has to be coped between two columns. The installation instructions from the web site is murky at best. Can I shape this poly-resin handrail with a router and a straight carbide bit?

Id be worried about the resin building up on the bit as it becomes hot, why not give it a try on a scrap and see what the results are?
Thanks for the reply. The material just showed up today(12/10). As soon as it stops snowing, raining and warms up (probably april) I'm going to give it a shot.
This may or may not assist - some years ago had to fabricate some fairly simple partitions for a bathroom. They wanted to use a high grade plastic sheet product they ordered from Florida and apparently is used in boats. I did have concerns with machinability, but in testing, routers, drills, even a belt sander, everything on low speed, did just fine without melting things. Drill bits actually tended to be the worst performers. I had the opinion then that the bit heated in the hole and started melting things, whereas with the others constant movement kept the material from ever warming sufficiently to affect them. What little craters I got at the outside of the holes just sliced off with a chisel.
