just finished sharpening my regular work chisels and block planes. Now I feel like a real carpenter again, with sharp tools and everything.
I like spending time in my shop, especially on a rainy afternoon like today, tuning up and sharpening my tools.
turn on the radio, get out my waterstones, and go to work. But it doesn’t seem like work.
And when I get on a job, and bring out that sharp plane or chisel, and am able to make it perform magic on a piece of wood- nothing better.
But I HATE it when I hit that hidden nail. Especially when I’ve just sharpened everything.

A little blunt I admit, but sharp just the same.
One of my Dad's old chisels. Wood handle, leather button top.

Nice. And I bet the steel in that chisel is much better than a new one
I wish I had the rest of the set. Ii do have one other 1/4" . The one in the pic is 3/4".
I takes a very nice edge although it is a little soft. But it cuts like no other chisel I own. I did that edge on a crappy oilstone fwiw. Waterstones are in the kitchen for the knives.
It was nice when my son was working with me, I could send him to get Grandpa's chisel.
One of the few things I have of his.

Nice. That's how I test mine for sharp. Just got a few new Norton water stones last week.
